IOM Mauritania’s Border Management Section regularly trains police in the protection of migrants, the rights and duties of people on the move, document controls at border crossings, first aid and sets up large-scale awareness-raising activities in the event of an attack or population movement. This type of joint training with Mali allows for better management in a desert area where the borders are very porous.
