Voluntary return to Ethiopia, train line from Djibouti to Addis Ababa

« I’m happy to participate in this return, I prefer to see them here take the train and go home, rather than see their corpses on the side of the road or risk their lives at sea. This partnership between ONARS and the IOM is a good thing, it is important that the National Office for Assistance to Refugees and Sinistres, support the most vulnerable and be involved in issues related to migration. Djibouti is undergoing a great wave of arrival of migrants, especially young people, as Djibouti, it is my duty to protect them. »

Hassan Mohamed Farah is a protection officer, he is in charge of vulnerable migrants within ONARS – National Office of Assistance to Refugees and Sinistrés. With IOM staff, Hassan attends the voluntary return of 221 migrants to Ethiopia. For 13 hours, they will travel 756 km, via the train line from Djibouti to Addis Ababa.
